Maisey was found and turned in to a rescue friend Tina in Murcia Nov. 22nd. The break is so bad they had to amputate. She will need ongoing care and the vet bills have piled up. If you would like to help her on her journey to a better life, please donate to G.R.I.N. and send us an email that the donation is for Maisey. Any amount helps. Thank You for your support.
We will keep you informed.

San Anton is the foundation that supports the shelter called Recogida Animales Vagabundos in Villamartin. It is meagerly supplemented by the government but for the last six years has been managed by animal lover Saskia Rinia van Nauta to help over 200 galgos a year and countless others that make their way there. With the help of local Vet Juan Bernal Bernal they are able to help re home galgos to Germany, Luxenborg, France and Switzerland. The work is hard and never lets up especially after the hunt season. We spent the day observing the daily operations and talking to some of the volunteers.
Ascen, a volunteer with Saskia for years, remembers the day of the disaster last year when a tornado hit the shelter. She said there was so much rain that as she drove madly to the shelter she saw a horse standing on a small patch of dirt surrounded by water. She said she was devastated by the look in the horse

Angie and Ruso have made it to U.S. soil today November 4th. All is well as they begin their new lives. Ruso in Georgia and Angie will continue to California in the next few days, a long journey from the kill station almost a year ago to freedom.
Thank you everyone who has been involved in the rescue of these amazing creatures. I want to thank from the beginning, Charlotte del Rio who sent G.R.I.N. the pictures of Angie in the kill station last January, Beryl Brennan of Galgo News for running the story of the Jaen four which included Angie, Silvia Bordetas Gil who took Angie in and maintained her through lots of health issues for over 10 months, Don and Elaine Irving her expectant parents for all these months of caring for her long distance, Dr. Cesar of the Blasco Ibanez Vet Clinic for their health care, Tina Solerna for rescuing Ruso and her friend who transported him, Vera for constant email support, Hortencia and Mae who transported them to the airport, Kay Williams Renfroe for flying to Madrid to pick them up, Tiziana our Delta Angel in Madrid and Dee Hansen for having the vision to help these two when told about their plight. Also thank you to all our G.R.I.N. supporters who helped Ruso with surgery costs, Marci Jones and Mayme Gigl. Without you this would not have been possible. And to Wally Lacey who helped me plan our first trip to pick her up even if we had to wait one more month for her!
All of your wonderful people I want to say thank you for helping Angie and Ruso to a new a wonderful life. It is great to see the dedication of so many people to help these innocents on to a new life. You are all awesome!

Romeo is a hound who was turned over to a kill station in Murcia by a hunter. He was just about to be given back to another hunter when Tina Solerna rescued him from that horrible fate that awaited him the next day! G.R.I.N. heard of him, 112 Carlotasgalos contacted Silvia Bordetas Gil and he was wisked off to Valencia. From there, within a few weeks time, he was placed in a wonderful home in Austria. G.R.I.N. raised the funds at the Greyhound Connection Annual Picnic to help a hound in need and it was Romeo who got the help he needed to move on to his new life..
Looks like life could not be better for Romeo!
Thanks to everyone who helped him on his way.
